Frequently Asked Questions
What does CSS minification remove?
This minifier removes comments, line breaks, and extra spaces, strips the spaces around braces, colons, semicolons, and commas, and drops the last semicolon in each rule. It does not merge rules or rename anything, so the output keeps the same selectors and properties.
Can minifying CSS break my styles?
For typical stylesheets the output behaves the same as the original. Because whitespace is collapsed, unusual cases such as repeated spaces inside content strings or a space before a pseudo-class (.menu :hover) can change. Keep your original file, test the result, and for production builds consider a build-pipeline tool such as cssnano or Lightning CSS.
Does minified CSS improve page speed?
Yes. Smaller stylesheets download and parse faster, which helps render-blocking CSS reach the browser sooner. For the biggest gains, combine minification with gzip or Brotli compression on your server.
