What is a good keyword density for SEO?

There is no ideal percentage, and Google does not rank pages against a target density. Write naturally for your reader. Use the report to spot words you've repeated so often that the text reads awkwardly, and to confirm your main topic and related terms are actually covered.

How is keyword density calculated?

Density is the number of times a keyword or phrase appears, divided by the total number of words in the text, multiplied by 100. Multi-word phrases are also divided by the total word count, so their percentages are naturally lower.

What are stop words and why ignore them?

Stop words are very common words such as "the", "is", "and", and "of" that appear in almost every text and say little about its topic. With the option enabled, single stop words are skipped and any phrase containing a stop word is excluded from 2- and 3-word results.

Can I check the keyword density of a live URL?

The checker analyzes text you paste in rather than fetching a URL. Copy the page content or its HTML source into the box. Everything is analyzed in your browser, so unpublished drafts stay private.
