Frequently Asked Questions
Which image format is best for websites?
WebP usually produces the smallest files at similar visual quality and is supported by all modern browsers. Use PNG when you need lossless quality or transparency, and JPEG for photos where maximum compatibility matters.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Images are converted with your browser's built-in canvas, so files never leave your device. Re-encoding also strips embedded metadata such as EXIF camera and location data.
What happens to transparency when converting to JPEG?
JPEG doesn't support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Choose PNG or WebP to keep a transparent background.
Can I convert animated GIFs?
Only the first frame of an animated GIF is converted, producing a still image. Use a dedicated video or animation tool to convert full animations.
